Legacy Meiji Vase Ring
Simply named Legacy, this ring is one of the most intriguing pieces we’ve ever created and is what our Signature Series is all about.
Inspired by the Meiji period, a pivotal era in Japan's transformation from a feudal society to a modern industrialized nation, this ring carries a rich historical narrative. The Meiji era, spanning from 1868 to 1912, marked Japan's emergence as a global power, blending traditional values with Western innovations.
We acquired an antique Late 18th Century Japanese Cloisonné enameled vase from a local auction, damaged during transport from Japan. Rather than viewing it as broken, we saw an opportunity to let its artistry live on. The intricate Cloisonné fragments, once a part of this remarkable piece, now form the core of this limited-edition ring.
Cloisonné, an ancient technique, involves decorating metalwork with colorful enamel held in place by metal strips or wires, often bronze or gold. Our design incorporates the crushed enamel fragments and brass shavings from the vase, paired with authentic Samurai sword fragments sourced from Aizuwakamatsu, dating back to the Meiji Restoration period.
To enhance the enamel’s natural beauty, we’ve added a subtle blend of glow powders mixed with diamond dust, matching the enamel colors giving the ring a unique luminescence that truly stands out. This fusion of history, artistry, and craftsmanship makes this ring a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
